Benschip, Melville, J., 90, of St. Petersburg, FL, died December 3, 2011 at Bay Pines VA Health Care System.
Melville moved here from his native Chicago, IL in 1977 where he retired as a railroad engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad Co. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, earning the rank of Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of the Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; two sons, Rick of Chicago and Gary (Susan) of Leonardo, NJ; a granddaughter, Jaclyn (Michael) Ryan and great grandson, Nicholas.
Graveside Services with full Military Honors were presented by the Pinellas County Veterans Council at 2:15 PM on Monday, December 12th at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, FL 33744.
