Helen M. Ancel, 88, of Land O’ Lakes, FL, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Detroit, MI, she moved here from Flint, MI in 1979. She retired as an Administrative Assistant for Pasco County in 1992 after 12 years or service. Helen was a US Army veteran of WWII. She was a loving mother and patriot.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold and son, James. Survivors include her two sons, Duane of Land O’ Lakes and Almon of Salem, WI; two daughters, Sharon Sherman and Tomalee Doan; two brothers, Chuck and David Smith; and a sister, Pat Sherwin, all of Michigan; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Graveside services with full military honors will be presented by the Pinellas County Veterans Council at 2:15 PM on Wed., December 21, 2011 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines 33744.

Mom was the best mother any child could ever expect to have. She mixed discipline with love and compassion and was always ready to help in any way she could.
From the Womans Army Corps, to mother of five, excellent lifelong secretary, and true American Patriot, she was a shining example of the greatest generation America has ever known.
