Raymond Jospeh Lockshier, Jr., age 76, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 9th, 2012 at home, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was a loving and loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend.
Services to be held Saturday February 11, 11:00am at the Bay Pines National Cemetery memorial pavilion. In lieue of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation – Silver Team.
He is survived by wife Carol, the love of his life and the pillar of his strength; Daughters – Valerie Rhymer (h. Kareem), Gail Hartman, and Robin Lockshier; Sister – Evelyn Belko (h. Ronald); Brothers – John Lockshier (w. Sharon), Roger Lockshier (w. Barbara); Grandchildren – Melody Delgado (h. Casper), Steve Guettler, Jr., Alex and Adam Hartman, Karie J and Lili Rhymer; Great Grandchildren – Kayla Delgado, Karimah Kenney, Caleb Guettler, many nieces and nephews, and countless lifelong friends.
He is pre-deceased by his parents Raymond Sr. and Mary Louise Lockshier.
This Army veteran understood that determination, persistence, and compassion were cornerstones of true happiness. He was an engineer by trade and vigourously enjoyed numerous pursuits, including mechanics, racing, boating, diving, ham radio, Judo, travel, and horseback riding. In keeping with his passion for social occasions, he was an accomplished and talented musician, who played the organ, steel drums, guitar, an accordian, and anything else he could get his hands on. He is sorely missed, but fond memories of him continue to light up the lives he has touched.

I was the secretary in a group that Ray was in at GELockheed Martin. Ray always would light up when he would talk about his family. We both shared the love of a special needs child. He was a fine man and will be missed. My sympathy to his family.

Uncle Ray was a very special man. They just don’t make men like him anymore. He was a fine man and a joy to be around, he will be missed by all those that he touched. He was a good person and wonderful uncle.
