Alvie Junior Nobles, 79, of Largo, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the Largo Rehab & Spa, in Largo, FL. He was born in Columbia, KY, and moved to Largo in 1988 from Cincinnati, OH.
He served his country in the United State Marine Corps during the Korean War and then went into the Marine Corps Reserves where he served for many years. He retired as a Manager from Cincinnati Bell after working there for 37 years. He was a member of VFW Posts in Madeira Beach, FL, and in Ohio. Mr. Nobles loved his family and also really enjoyed his wife’s chili.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ely and Sarah Nobles, and his sister, Sarah Gadberry. He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Gary of Largo; daughters, Debbie Merrill of Cincinnati, OH, Terry Nobles of Largo, Rae Miller of Largo and Kristy Nobles of Indian Rocks Beach, FL; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; cousin Michael and his wife Mitzy Hines of Madeira Beach; brother-in-law, Dale Gadberry and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Largo Rehab & Spa and Suncoast Hospice for their kindness and level of care provided during a very difficult time. Their compassion and support was greatly appreciated.
Services will be held at a later date at the Mount Mariah Cemetery located in Union Township, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Alzheimer's Association or to Hospice.
I remember the good times we had grandpa. I will miss you very much. I love you always. This isnt goodbye its see ya later grandpa. Sleep tight.

I’m so sorry for everyone’s loss. There are very few great men in this world and Alvie was definately one of them. I have many memories of Alvie and they all reflect his kind heart and gentle spirit. My prayers are with the family and just know I still love each of you dearly.

Have fun walkin in the streets of gold with Sarah. Dale can’t wait to be there. Take care of things until we all make it up there.
One thing i can say, sure glad we all got to experience Lake Cumberland with you and grandma. Don’t worry though, one day our family chain will link again.
