Joan M. Simpson, 77, of St. Petersburg, formerly of New Smyrna Beach, FL passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Eagle Lake Rehab and Care Center.
Born in St. Louis, MO, she moved here from Smyrna, GA in 1975. She retired as a Nurse’s Aide and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 104. She enjoyed dancing and socializing at several veteran posts in the area.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, SCPO Virgil Simpson, USCG Ret. Survivors include her 3 daughters, Kathy Simpson and Joan Colcord of St. Petersburg, and Clara Svalic of St. Louis; and 3 grandchildren, Tyler and Tanya Colcord, and James Svalic.
Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Petersburg. A memorial celebration will be private.
