Dorothy W. Dougherty, 72, a lifelong resident of Clearwater, FL passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012. She fought a courageous 18-year battle with cancer.
Dorothy was a wife, homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many people. She was a graduate of Largo High School, Class of 1958, and was of Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Urban; father, William; brothers, Robert and Charles; and grandson, Christopher. Survivors include her four children, Donnie, Laura, James, and Charles; mother, Pauline; two sisters, Sandra and Dian; and five grandchildren, Brittney, Eric, Christopher, Michael, and Evelynn. Dorothy will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.
Interment will be at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760-9962, www.thehospice.org .

It feels like forever we have known ech other. You were one strong woman who was full of pride and shared so much in life. Not only taught us; your grand kids the love in life but the courage to carry with us. You have been a big inspiration in my life and will always love you. You hold a special place in my heart although now, I cannot hold your hands. You are in a better place with grandpa and he sure will be taking good care of you. Please etch over us as day goes on and lift our smile as we need to be happy. You were our everything. I will be sure the family stays together and loves each other as I’m around. Laura I`m so sorry to hear that your mother has passed away , It hurts so much to lose our loved ones, I didn`t know her , but I`m sure I would have loved her, she had to be a wonderful lady to have a daughter as wonderful , My heart is with you ..

I was so sorry to hear about your mothers passing. Dorothy meant alot to me. She never held any grudges and always treated me like family. I have very good memories of her great food also, and have told my children about it. I have several old pictures of her if want them. Just email me and I can send them to you.
