Alexander Rodmell Sr., 91, of Clearwater, FL, died October 30, 2012, at home with his family by his side.
He was born in Toronto, Canada in 1921 and lived most of his life in Lakewood, New Jersey before moving to
Florida in 1995. He is predeceased by his wife of 50 years Juliet Rodmell. He and his wife owned and operated Mini Mart stores in Point Pleasant Beach and Bayville for 20 plus years. Alexander served in the Royal Navy during World War II. He served aboard the British cruiser Hood that was sunk by the German battleship Bismark off Greenland. He was then transferred to the destroyer, Foresight.
He is survived by his children Ellen and Jack Gage of Colorado Springs, CO, Alexander Jr. and Maryann Rodmell of Tampa, FL, Nancy and Mark Silverberg of Clark’s Summit, PA, Juliet and Richard Smith of Manchester, NJ, Colleen And Charles Tafaro of Manchester, NJ, Gordon and Crysta Rodmell of Barnegat, NJ; brother, Roy Rodmell of Peterborough, Ontario; 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Held on Friday, November 9th at Saint Mary’s Cemetery on 1 Honey Locust Street in Toms River. Viewing at 1:30pm. Service following immediately after.
