Miguel Angel Cortes, SSGT-US Army-Retired funeral services are 2:30 PM, Friday, February 22, 2013 at Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with a Hospice Priest and the US Army Military Funeral Honors Team providing full military honors.
A native of Cayey, Puerto Rico and a local resident since 2005, when he moved here from Cayey, Puerto Rico; he retired from the US Army after 37 years of honorable service to our nation. He was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War and attended Incarnation Catholic Church in Tampa, Florida.
He was born to Solomon and Clotilde Cortes on February 25, 1930 and passed away at the Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Florida on February 15, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Olfa Lopez Cortes of Tampa, Florida; a son, Jose Cortes of East Hampton, New Jersey; two daughters, Nydia La Plante of Tampa, Florida and Migdalia Sagrado and her husband, Gonzalo of Bordentown, New Jersey; a brother, Victor Cortes of Puerto Rico; a sister, Margarita Cortes and her husband, Jose of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchild.

Met Miguel about four year ago at the Senior center in Town & Country. Always a gentelman. Very friendly and courteous. May he rest in peace.
Mr. Cortes was a very special person and an inaugural member of the Town ’N Country Senior Center. He was full of life, love and joy. His demeanor permeated throughout the Senior Center and he will always have a special place in my heart. My prayers are with his wife and family during this time of loss.
