Mary Lou Comis, 80, of Tampa, passed away at Tampa General Hospital on Friday, May 17, 2013. She was born in Syracuse, NY and moved here in 1969 from Fulton, NY.
While Mrs. Comis did work out of the house occasionally in her lifetime, she was primarily a homemaker the majority of her adult life. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tampa for many years. She loved to fix food for family and friends at the holidays. One of her special meals was real Italian spaghetti and she just generally loved to cook. She also loved her family, enjoyed taking family vacations and playing cards. The Derby Lane Dog Track was a favorite place to go for Mr. and Mrs. Comis for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Ella Howell and her husband of nearly 59 years, James Comis, Sr. She is survived by her sons, James and John; daughter, Lisa Comis; sister, Barbara Graham of Baldwinsville, NY; 1 grandchild and 2 great-grandchildren.
On May 24th, the family will receive friends at 9:30AM at the Segal Funeral Home, 3909 Henderson Blvd., Tampa, FL. A Mass for the repose of her soul will follow and be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 11AM with Father Angelus Migliore officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 PM at Florida National Cemetery.

To Mary’s family; I worked with Mary in the St. Patrick’s school cafeteria. She was a great friend and a pleasure to work with. I learned that her husband and I were both from the same hometown in NY and went to the same grade school. My prayers to the family. Love, Rose Mullino
