Fred Daniel Denton, 73, of Richland Hills, Texas succumbed to cancer on June 17, 2013. Born in the Panama Canal Zone, Panama and came to Texas at the age of 6. He was adopted at 11 years of age by the late Frank and Bonita Denton.
Fred attended Grapevine High School – Alumni Class of 1959; served in the US Navy Submariner, trained as a torpedo man. Being an entrepreneur, he owned three restaurants in Dallas and had his own trucking business for 17 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Bonita Denton; a son, Mark Denton; granddaughters; Tiffany Zackery and Mandy Denton; two sisters, Louise Denton Farnsworth and Joanna Denton Swofford.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Judi Denton: children; Shelly Denton Gaul and her husband, Matthew of Phillips, NE; Toby Denton and his wife, Jennifer of Buda, Texas; Nikole Denton Homitz and her husband, Patchen of Fairfax, California; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 21, 2013 at Wellspring Church, 7300 Smithfield Road (corner of Starnes) North Richland Hills, Texas 76182. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. Military Honors by the United States Navy will conclude the service. There will be fellowship following the service at the church.
Burial will take place on Monday, June 24, 2013 at Dallas Ft Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. There is NO formal service at the cemetery.
