Veterans Funeral Care David Minton

David A. Minton, CPL.-USMC-Vietnam War Veteran funeral service is Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard, Detachment # 708, to officiate. Please assemble at the cemetery between 2:00 PM and service time. The Patriot Guard will also provide a Honor Guard and cemetery transportation.

A lifelong Lakeland resident and a retired oil well driller, CPL Minton was born on December 30, 1946 and passed away at the James A. Haley VA Hospital, Tampa, Florida on June 14, 2013. He was 66 years of age and was born to Duward and Betty (Holland) Minton and was of the Baptist faith.

During his military career, he participated in the following operations/battles: “Darling Endeavor”, “Sabine Draw”, “Swift Play II”, “Allenbrook”, “Houston 4”, “Eager Yankee”, “Ballard Valley”, “Worth”, , “Pitt” and counter insurgency operations through out Vietnam. He was wounded three times, both shoulders and the arm and was awarded Three Purple Hearts; Bronze Star w/combat “V”; Vietnam Campaign Medal with device; Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Star; National Defense Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

Cpl. Minton is survived by his loving family: his wife, Sharon Minton of Lakeland, FL; three sons; Shannon Minton of Redrock, Texas; Garrett Minton of Lake Wales, Florida and Steve Ricks of Winter Haven, Florida; five daughters: Krystal Dough of Redrock, Texas; Lori Minton of Lake Wales, Florida; Stacy Bowen of Winter Haven, Florida; Rachel Dages of Lakeland, Florida and Raegan Ballard of Lakeland, Florida; a brother, Ray Minton of Lake Buffum, Florida; a sister, Amanda McDaniel of Shamrock, Texas; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
