Veterans Funeral Care William Rutkowski

William Francis Rutkowski, 80, of Palm Harbor, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family.

Bill was born in Baltimore, MD on March 7, 1933, son of the late Charles and Lucy Rutkowski, and brother of the late Charles, Earl, Richard, and Margaret Rutkowski.  Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Imogene Fromhart Rutkowski; his three sons, William J. Rutkowski and partner Roger of London, England; Robert C. Rutkowski and wife Betsy of Palm Harbor, FL and their children, Nikki, Jillian and Tara; and David B. Rutkowski of Jacksonville, FL and his son, Henry; and his nieces and nephews.

Bill proudly served in the US Army in Korea and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

Bill graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Juris Doctor and Pace University with an MBA.  His long career at Western Electric/AT&T took Bill from early positions in Baltimore to Vancouver, WA where he served as Labor Relations manager and in Basking Ridge, NJ/ New York, NY as the company’s OSHA administrator.

In retirement, Bill and Imogene relocated to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL where they enjoyed 20 happy years.

In 2006, Bill published his book, We Regret to Inform You, the stories of former prisoners of war from World War II. 
 
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service, honoring both Bill and Imogene, at St. Brigid Church, 900 S. East Avenue, Baltimore, MD on Friday, August 16th at 10:00am., burial to follow at Baltimore National Cemetery, 5501 Frederick Avenue, Baltimore, MD at 12 noon. Reception immediately following. Donations may be made in Bill and Imogene’s memory to the A-T Children’s Project, www.atcp.org .
