Raymond D. Post, 87 years old, born in Newark Valley NY and a resident of Largo, FL passed away into the Lord’s arms on October 4, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ellen Post, and three daughters, Brenda (Ron) Vincent of South Carolina, Janette Post of Palm Harbor, FL and Marlene (Ned) McGrady of Indiana; four sons, Donald (Susan) Post of Largo, FL, Larry (Brenda) Post of Nashville, TN, Gary (Cindy) of Binghamton, NY and Joel (Jane) Post of Palm Harbor, FL. He was predeceased by a son, Roger (Barbara) Post in March 2013. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren as well as many treasured nieces, nephews, brother and sister in laws and dear friends. All are invited to add their comments.
He proudly served in the US Navy in World War II (changing his birth certificate to enlist underage) in the European Theatre and Asiatic Pacific. Ray was employed for 37 years by Columbia Gas in Binghamton NY and retired to Florida in 1984 with his lovely wife, son Joel and dear mother-in-law Ada Lane. He was associated with Ranchero Village Chapel in Largo FL.
Ray’s passions were his love for the Lord, family, history and sports of all kinds, especially the Tampa Bay Rays. When he resided in New York he enjoyed providing fresh vegetables from his garden. His mother-in-law, Ada Lane (predeceased) often prepared his absolute favorite desert-apple pie. The family will never again eat a pancake without remembering with great fondness- Dad, Grandpa, Poppy Ray.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at the Ranchero Village Chapel locted at 7100 Ulmerton Road, largo, FL. A visitation will be held at 10:00am and a funeral service will be held at 11:00am.
