Remembering My 6th Grade Teacher, Miss Marlene Heeter
I had a truly wonderful 6th grade teacher at Walnut Hill Elementary school Falls Church, Va. back in 1963 — Miss Marlene Heeter.
Even though it’s been more than 60 years, I still remember how steady, kind, and encouraging she was. She had a calm way of teaching that made you want to do well, and she treated every student with real respect.
I recently learned more about her life and discovered that she went on to have a long career as both a teacher and principal, first in Northern Virginia and later back in West Virginia.
After 60+ years, it’s not easy to be certain this lady was my teacher. But everything I’ve read matches the caring person I remember from that classroom.
God Bless Her 🙏
