Gerald Stewart Ryan Veteran Funeral

Gerald Stewart Ryan, 94, 1st LT.-United States Air Force – World War II B-26 Pilot funeral service will be 2:30 PM, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW  102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida  33513 with the United States Air Force and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 10209, officiating.

Gerald was born in Rochester, New York on June 23, 1920 to Floyd and Elsie (Stewart) Ryan and passed away at the Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, Florida on March 23, 2015.  During World War II, he was a pilot and flew the B-26 Bomber and was awarded the American Theater Medal and the American Defense Service Medal. After being discharged from military service, he became a claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance; a Presbyterian and moved to the Seminole area in 2000 from Sebring, Florida.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 69 years, Mildred Ryan of Seminole, Florida; four sons; Dennis Ryan of Goodyear, Arizona, Michael Ryan of Coventry, CT., Rusty Ryan of Newington, CT and Timothy Ryan of Phoenix, Arizona; three daughters, Gerrianne Groves of Seminole, Florida, Kathleen Hughes of Shelton, CT and Colleen Basile of Egg Harbor Township, NJ.; nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
