Mary Jo Mule’ Reed, 67, of St. Pete Beach, passed away on Wednesday night, May 20, 2015 at home after a long battle with cancer.
Mary was the daughter of Marie Polito Mule’ and Jasper Mule’. She grew up in Alexandria, LA, attending Louisiana College and UL Lafayette.
Mary led a full life, traveling as a US Air Force wife with her family within the US and Overseas; stationed on eight bases. In 2000, she moved to St. Pete Beach and worked as a cashier at Publix Supermarket for ten years. She enjoyed the beach life and loved her local and seasonal customers; many waiting just to go through her line to say “hello” to her.
She was a very social person and made friends easily. She liked bowling, Bingo, playing cards and games, traveling, and nutrition. She was an excellent cook and could have been a chef (her gumbo was prize)!
She is survived by her companion Robert Reed, who cared for her the last 16 months during her illness; daughter, Ariana Afeld (boyfriend Colin Denney) of New Tampa; son, Kendall (Cindy) Reed of Las Vegas, NV; mother, Marie Medica and sister, Shirley (Tom) Richards of Alexandria, LA; grandson, Nicholas (Drew) VanCleve of Las Vegas, NV; nephew, Brad (Renee) Richards (their son, Landon and daughter, Avery) of Lafayette, LA – nephew, Todd Richards of Houston, TX, and Trixsie.
Special thanks to Florida Cancer Specialists, Dr. Diaz, Barbara and nursing staff, and Suncoast Hospice, Orange Team for their compassionate care for Mary during illness.
Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Pass-A-Grille Community Church, 107 16th Avenue, St Pete Beach, FL.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving for the Life of Mary
Father God we thank you for your Word which was made flesh, was a living sacrifice for our sins, and is the Lord of our life. We thank you for the Holy Spirit which strengthens us. We thank you for the many blessing in our lives…one which was May who was created unique and brought us great joy. She lived her life to the fullest as a mother, as a wife and companion, and as a friend to all who knew her. Her spirit reflected her commitment to living life to the fullest as promised in Your Word. Her Lord and Savior was with her as she passed through the valleys of life which lead her to the table prepared for her. Mary chose life and her uplifting spirit was glorifying by the joy she brought others. Father we thank you for the time Mary was given to say good bye to her loved ones, and for the time family and friends who loved her dearly were given to accept the inevitable. In Christ she faced the challenges of this life and is now with You Father in everlasting life. Lord grant us Your strength to face the challenges in our lives as bravely as Mary faced hers in Christ Jesus. Comfort all those who mourn the loss of a mother, companion, and friend. We give You all the glory and honor. In the holy name of Jesus we pray.
Amen

Marion and myself are very sad to hear about Mary’s passing, as we were just in Florida last weekend and were asking about her condition. Mary was very lucky to have a good partner like Bob to help comfort her during these drastic months undergoing her treatments. May she rest in peace now with no more pain and suffering, we will miss her strolls to the beach. Our prayers are with all of Mary’s family members.
Mary Jo & I went to school for 12 years. We had many good times together. She was a very Special Person & her Faith was strong. I know she is in Heaven. I will miss our phone called. My Prayers are with Her Family. Mary Ann
We are so very sorry for your loss. Mary was indeed a special girl. For several years we were neighbors, when she lived on 40th. After she moved a few streets over, she would rest a bit on our front porch during her walks. We would chat and laugh. Mary was a real sweetie-pie. God bless.
Marie, I am saddened by the notice that your daughter, Mary Jo passed away. Please accept my deepest sympathy. My prayers are with all of your family. Please take care of yourself. Your P and S. Clinic co-worker. Love, Wally Sanson
We always made sure we saw Mary each February when we went to Florida for our vacation. If she didn’t come to the Bonair we went to Publix’s for a chat. We missed seeing her this past February as she was ill then. Our thoughts & prayers go out to her family. John & Pam Jenkinson (Canada)
Very sorry for your loss. Hugs and prayers to all of you. Mary was quite a trooper. We are glad to have had the opportunity to get to know her.
So sorry for your loss, Robert. You, Mary Joe, Brenda and me used to be very good friends back at England AFB and George AFB. We had some good times together. When I look at our home movies, I think about how happy you two once were. For whatever reason it didn’t work out and we will miss the fact that Mary Jo is no longer with us. God bless you for your strength and compassion over the final months.

Mary was my next door neighbor. And what a great neighbor. Mary was very popular with many of our local residents and the annual tourists. And Mary just loved over sized chocolate chip muffins. Always with a smile and a kind word for everyone. Many blessings for Mary on her new journey. Rest in peace.
We send our condolences. Mary used to live a couple doors down from us on 40th. She always had a sweet smile and enjoyed her walks in the neighborhood. At the Publix checkout she would ask about our daughter’s cancer battle and how everyone on our street was doing. We will miss you Mary. Rest in peace. Marie, Lee and Suyin Cheam
We are very sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers to the family during this difficult time. Rest in peace Mary.
