Leland P. Aspesi, 75, of Treasure Island – Funeral service is Thursday, 10:00 AM, June 4, 2015 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, Florida 33744 with the Pinellas County Veterans Council presenting military honors. Please arrive at the cemetery between 9:30 AM and service time.
Leland passed away at his home in Treasure Island on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015. Lee proudly served in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany. Upon returning from serving his country, he began a career in corporate sales, settled back in Massachusetts and worked 16 years at Gorton’s of Gloucester Seafood before owning and operating a restaurant in Essex, MA. Lee grew up in Lanesville and Gloucester, MA and finally settled his family in Hamilton, MA.
There he became very active member of the community serving as a auxiliary police officer and a member in good standing of the American Legion Post 194. In 1991, he and his wife, Nancy moved to Florida. Lee continued to serve the community by working with the elderly and as a member of the Board of his resident community association. Lee is the son of the late Hugo and Carolyn (Casey) Aspesi of Rockport, MA.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy (Blonda) Aspesi of Ipswich, MA; his daughter, Kellie DeAmbrose and her husband, Keith and their son, Mitchell, of Wilmington, MA; his son, Jon “Jay” Aspesi of Raleigh, NC and his sister, Pamela Burke and her husband, Richard of Palm City, FL.
Lee loved his country, his family, boating and fishing with his Dad. A true Patriot, he will be missed more than words can express.

Dear Nancy, Kellie and Jay So sad to hear about Lee’s passing, Lee always had a smile and a joke ready every time we met. I will never forget the time he rescued us when we were out in a boat in the middle of a storm. Boy, were we glad to see him! We are so sorry to hear of the loss of such a dear friend and neighbor for so many years. We were intending to move back to being his neighbor again and now such a loss words cannot describe what we feel.
He will be missed by all and he will be remembered for a long time for all the good he gave.

Just browsing the internet and found Lees obituary. I served with him in Germany. Sorry to hear of his passing. We were in the same FDC section together. Lee and the rest of the guys ate Christmas dinner with my wife and I in 1963.
