Angelo L. “Larry” Merlo, 87, of Largo, Florida passed away on June 1, 2015 at the Bay Pines Veterans Medical Center in St. Petersburg, FL. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 4, 1927, the son of the late Angelo J. and Dorothy Henrietta Duengel Merlo. He enlisted in the Army serving from January 1946 to July 1947 and was later employed as a tool and die maker for the automobile industry. He was married to Bonnie Humbert Merlo for over 66 years and they moved to Florida many years ago.
Larry’s greatest accomplishment was raising four children, teaching them independence, loyalty, and having kind hearts. He will always be in our hearts and greatly missed by his loving family and friends. It’s a great feeling knowing he is in a greater place keeping watch of all of us.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Largo, FL; three daughters: Debbie Mauborgne of Dunedin, FL, Karen Maston of Lavonia, MI, and Karla Pferman of Jacksonville, FL; his son, Daniel, of Tarpon Springs, FL; three grandchildren: Kimberly, Derin, and Jesse; three great-grandchildren: Devon, Jackson, and Ava; and three brothers: Gerald of Gwinn, MI, Bruce of Lake, MI, and Richard of Detroit, MI.
