John T. McKenna, 80, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away Thursday morning, July 16, 2015 at Palm of Pasadena Hospital, So. Pasadena, FL.
Born in New York, NY, he moved here from Bergen County, NJ. He retired as a printer after 42 years. He worked for Sorg Printing in NY for 31 years. He was of Catholic Faith and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He coached football, wrestling, and baseball. And he enjoyed sports, playing cards, and old movies.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Susan; sons, Thomas and Michael; and Austin Tavares, who he cared for as a son; daughter, Colleen Ferrari; brother, Patrick (Jen); sister, Molly (Ed) Burns; sister in law, Linda Tavares; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 20, 2015 with the family greeting friends one hour prior at Beach Memorial Chapel, 301 Corey Avenue, St. Pete Beach, FL 33706. Interment will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, FL.

so sorry for your loss. you have had a special relationship with John and now he is not in pain anymore. You and he were lucky to have such a wonderful relationship. You helped my nephew become the msn he is becoming. Thank you John. you were loved and will be missed.
