Edgar Wayne Jones Sr. 86, of Arcadia, FL, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Bay Pines VA Hospital in Bay Pines, FL. He was born was born May 23, 1929, in Caldwell County, NC. He lived most of his life in the Stow-Hudson area of Ohio with his wife, Edith where they raised their son Edgar “Wayne” Jr. In 2012, they moved to Arcadia, FL to be with family and to get to know the great-grandchildren.
Edgar served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1949, near the end of WWII in the Philippine Islands. Ed or Wayne was an inventor! He was always working on a plan to make things work better or different than the usual way. He never would give up unless the idea was completely exhausted then he would be on to the next idea.
He was the most, kindhearted person you could meet, and he would help anyone.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Cora Jones and his wife, Edith Elrod Jones. He is survived by his son, Edgar Wayne Jr. and Dawn Jones; granddaughter Jessica and David Pursley ; and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Aleigha, and Elizabeth.
A Military Honors Memorial Service will be at Sarasota National Cemetery August 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm. The cemetery is located at 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL, 34241. A reception will immediately follow at Peace River Campground, 2998 North West Highway 70, Arcadia, FL, 34266.

My Uncle Wayne was an amazing man. He was always there for me. He was my knight in shining armor on many occasions. He and Ede made a huge impact in my life. I will miss him!
