Alexander “Alex” Brasseaux, 85, of Land O’Lakes, Florida passed away September 4, 2015. Alex was born in Lafayette on August 12, 1930 to Moise Joseph Brasseaux and Isaure Prejean Brasseaux. Sisters: Olay Kay Benoit, RJ Phillips and Linda Baxas. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School and served two years in the Army. Survived by children: Joseph Dale, Barry Lane, Christopher Jay and Brent Harold, Erin “Dodie” Brandi Blankenship and Douglas Hicks. Fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Alex was proud of his Cajun heritage, he loved crawfish festivals, Mardi Gras, zydeco music, fishing and football; especially LSU and the Saints. Everyone that met him instantly fell in love with his outgoing personality and personable character. He will join his wife at rest at Florida National cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
Was a sad time when my brother Robert Benoit called me to inform me that my much loved Uncle Alex had passed away.
Myself and my Wife have his family in our hearts, minds and Prayers in this sad time. And my special thanks to Brandi who was closest to him in his final years. I’m sure it brought him much joy to be able to see at least a few of his family and grandchildren often. Thank you Brandi.
My Uncle Alex will be missed by me. I remember the earlier years when we would camp, ride horses and visit Uncle Alex at one of a large trail ride. Yep! the good ole days and good memories of spending time with Uncle Alex, Joe “AKA” Joe Joe and Barry. Hey Joe, still don’t care for white milk. I remember the days at Ma Ma and Pa Pa’s house in Baton Rough where Ma Ma always had some form of chocolate syrup for you Joe Joe so she could get you to drink your milk.
Well in parting. May the Holy Spirit comfort each that are feeling deep loss.
Blessings,
Daniel Joseph Benoit
