Hilario “Larry” Pepito

Hilario “Larry” Pepito, ( known as “Pepi” to his friends), 70, of New Port Richey, FL went on to his home in heaven. He had been at HPH Hospice Marliere Care Center in New Port Richey as a result of a massive heart attack. On the afternoon of September 10th, 2015, surrounded by his family he went home with the Lord.

Larry was born to the late Catalina and Juanito Pepito, in Philadelphia, PA on September 26, 1944. He was the eldest of ten children.  Larry’s career was established in security systems after leaving the military. He moved up to management and remained in that field until he was forced to retire due to disability at the age of 62. Larry was a veteran who served in Vietnam and proud of his military service. He was a member of the American Legion.

Larry loved to sing and had a wonderful voice but will best be remembered for his humor, he could be outrageously funny. Just a small sample —- At our wedding reception when the band took a break, he went to the microphone, and called me to the stage to sing a love song to me. Present were Filipino family and friends seated at one long table, my family and friends at another, and both our friends at another table. With Larry’s Uncle Juan playing guitar and Pop-Pop on the mandolin, Larry came in close taking my face in his hand and began to sing. He sang a love song special to all Filipino’s and it went like this —“Dahil sa iyo  Nais kong ma buhay     Dahil sa iyo  gonna buy pizza pie o”—  As you can see he forgot the words but it never stopped him from singing. The Filipino’s were falling off their chairs with laughter, while everyone else was wondering what was happening.

Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ella “Suzy”; his four sons: Russell, Michael and Richard Hays, and Raymon Pepito; his grandchildren: Nicole Prentis and Brenna Pepito as well as Jerame and Amanda Kallis; his great granddaughter, Carianna Prentis; his siblings, Vicky, Connie, Nino, Serena, John, David and Benny Pepito , Franny and Bill Dohn.

While he will be dearly missed by those of us who loved him, we celebrate the fact that he is at home with his Savior Jesus. We will have a memorial service at his home church “The Gathering”, 735 Martin Rd, Jasper, GA 30143, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2015 with Pastor Irvin Smith officiating.
