Richard Gartner Mac Murchy, SGT-USMC-Korean War Veteran funeral service is 1:30 PM, Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, Florida with the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard providing full military honors.
Richard passed away at his residence in Largo, Florida, under the care of Hospice on October 27, 2015. He was a native of Youngstown, Ohio and a local resident since 1978, when he moved here from Youngstown. Richard was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War. During his military service he was awarded Two Purple Hearts, Korean Service Medal with 3 Stars; United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Richard was born on December 31, 1932 in Youngstown to William and Edith (Gartner) Mac Murchy and after his military service he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree and opened his own restaurant business.
Preceded in death by his parents, Richard is survived by his loving family: his wife, Martha “Marti” Mac Murchy of Largo, Florida; sons, Wesley Mac Murchy and his wife, Michelle of Largo, Florida; Scott Darr and his wife, Megan of Odessa, Florida; daughters, Kassie La Fave and her husband, John of Largo, Florida and Shannon Howard and her husband, Haynard of Dover, Pennsylvania; a sister, Jean Dayton of Seminole, Florida and six grandchildren.
