Margaret Amy Baker Riley, 91 years old, was born April 11, 1924 in Norristown, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Franklin Riley. Her parents, Frank and Elizabeth (Ella) Leach Baker; her brother, William Lewis Baker; and her sister, Mina Alice Baker White.
Margaret joined the U.S. Navy April 24, 1944 and was honorably discharged on October 18, 1946. She was a Hospital Apprentice First Class. She was awarded a Certificate of Graduation by the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Navy Department, Washington DC on September 4, 1945. Prior to entering the Navy, she worked as an Assembler for Ammunition from October 1943 to April 1944.
Margaret and her sister, Mina, moved to Plant City, FL in 1986 after her retirement of nearly 25 years from AAA in Falls Church, VA. She then worked for Moss Brothers, Burdines, Famous Barr and the last owner was Macy’s Department Store for nearly 20 years of faithful service in Lakeland, Florida.
Margie was loved by her many friends. She has faithfully attended the AAA annual 20 Years of Service luncheon at Lake Mary, Florida. It gave her great joy to see all her previous co-workers year after year. She also attended the monthly Macy retirees luncheon without fail. Her many Macy friends celebrated her life on her 90th birthday with a surprise party which brought her so much joy.
She passed away peacefully at the Life-Path Hospice House in Sun City, Florida on November 3, 2015. She will be missed by her loving circle of friends.
