Corporal Jackson served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. During his time of service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asia Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

Reverend Jackson was a man that loved to read his bible, sing, worship and fellowship. He and Evelyn were members of Clearwater First Assembly of God Church for over forty years. He was a very friendly and open man who was always ready with a quick smile and a firm handshake. He thoroughly loved his family and was especially fond of his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
James loved to travel with Evelyn and go camping. He also enjoyed gardening, simple country food, and loved his coffee. He was also widely known to have the gift of gab and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cleone; his wife, Evelyn; his sons, Michael and Darryl; and his sisters, Margie Thompson and Jean Phillips; step-brothers, Eldrich and Leland Chambless; step-sisters, Audie Lawrence and Marie Collier. He is survived by his son, Rodney and his fiance, Joey Morgan; daughter, Sherye Bolin and her husband, Durrell; sister, Helen Hall; three grandchildren, Tommy, Matthew and Veronica; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A service honoring his life will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016, at Clearwater First Assembly of God Church located at 1739 S. MLK Jr. Ave., Clearwater, FL, 33756. A public visitation will be held at 10:00AM and will be followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM. Following the service, James will be interred at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park with his wife.
Such an honor to serve this family as he was a man of God and a patriot. God bless you.
This was one of the most humble men I’ve ever known. He and his wife were the picture of servant Christian leaders. I loved seeing James and Evelyn Jackson sitting with Viola and Howard Jackson at church. They called their row “Jacksonville.” Now all four are gone on to heaven. All of us who knew him know a wonderfully kind hearted man is gone. First Assembly members, we were lucky. May God bless his family, this is a hard loss.
One of the finest men I’ve ever met.
Brother Jackson was always a joy to be around. He always had a kind comment and a warm handshake. A friend who was always upbeat and encouraging. A fixture at our church and clearly a man who loved God’s Word and His presence. He will be greatly missed.

Brother Jackson was a wonderful man who always had a kind word and a smile. He would always search us out after church just for a hug and a handshake. He was one of the kindest man we have ever met. He will always be fondly remembered and will certainly be missed.
Bro. Jackson was such a blessing to us, such a kind, gentle spirit but a giant of a man who loved God and served Him faithfully. I always loved to hear him pray …. those prayers continue as we await the Lord’s return and a glad reunion day. When I saw you Saturday I got a smile and a head nod when I said I would see you again. And dont forget you said you would tell mom hello for me. Gods speed and go gently into the heavens where you are welcomed with open arms. You left this world as youl lived ….like a gentle giant of a man. JT and I will certainly miss YOU. Love you lots.
My uncle was such a kind man. I have many wonderful memories with him as I was growing up. After I had my son, Noah, he was always so happy to spend time with him. He could never quite remember his name & would always say “Hey Moses!” I was always so appreciative of his gentle nature & the relationship he had with his wife, Evelyn. I am glad they are together now along with my grandmother & mom. I know they are having a blast in heaven. See you on the other side one day Uncle Geoffrey!
Uncle Goeffrey was truly one the of sweetest, most sincere and loving men I have the honor of calling “family”. His beautiful smile and warm hugs will be missed but we know he is back in the arms of that beautiful blonde of his (Aunt Ev) and shining those pearly gates. All our love, hugs and prayers for peace to all.
My dear sweet uncle. What an amazing man you were. Thank you for your love and kindness. You always had a smile on your face. You were a wonderful father figure after daddy died. You always made everyone feel special. Thank you always keeping mom busy and not letting her feel down or sad. She will miss you terribly and so will we. You truly were an amazing man and we are all better for knowing you.

It was a great pleasure and an honor to have known Reverend Jackson. He was one of the sweetest spirits I had ever met. My prayers and deepest condolences go out to the family at this very difficult time.
Best regards, Mike
On behalf of our family, I would like to thank everyone for all the love, prayers and kind words. Dads funeral was beautiful, he would have been proud. My dad was the most wonderful person I have ever know and from the comments I have read everyone else thought so also. He loved his family, friends, neighbors and God. He read the bible every day. He recently told me he knew his time was short, but he said he had 95 great years. We have cried many tears and will cry many more in the days ahead but I know he is with my MOM in heaven. So thank you to everyone at Veterans, His church family, Pastor Eddie and all of our family and friends for there support. Its hard to believe I wont see his smiling face when I pull into the yard, but we’ll see him again one day…. As I always said when I left him, I LOVE YOU DAD, Be Good, See You Soon…!!
