Robert Lonergan, Sr., 86, of Pinellas Park, FL completed a lifetime of service on Wednesday, February 3, 2016.
Bob was retired from the Erie Lackawanna Railroad and Pinellas County Government. He served his country in the Army during World War II and Korea then later served his fellow veterans as a lifelong member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as a founding member of the Lealman Community Emergency Response Team and was a longtime member of St. Giles Church.
Bob was my first cousin as his Dad and my mother were siblings (Jim and my mom Marie). The family is scattered and large. Last time I saw Bob was went he went off to the Korean War in 1951 or so. However we reconnected through email and I feel we really got to know each other.
Please family members if you ever want to see the Jersey Shore, we have room and you would be welcome. There are still 8 first cousins mostly in the NYC Metro area.
I can only send my heartfelt wishes to all of you.
