Anna Marie Tarnawsk
Anna Marie Tarnawski, aged 70, died the morning of February 5, 2016, of natural causes. She was attended and comforted by family members while at Florida Hospital Connerton Long-Term Acute Care Facility in Land O’ Lakes, Florida at the time of her passing. Anna was born July 31, 1945, in Minneapolis Minnesota, the daughter of the late Lester Brookman and Helen Graham Brookman.
Dressed in Hopalong Cassidy boots, black cowboy hat, hip holster and pistol, Hoppy’s girl looked forward to sleep overs and spending time with the person that meant the world to her, Grandma Ellen. Anna was proud of her father, owner of Brookman Stamp Company, and enjoyed his career as a hobby of her own for many years. Her mother and sister had a passion for antiquing and Anna would often be found with them on treasure hunts. Anna graduated from Washburn High School in 1963 and then attended college at Mankato State University.
In 1965 Anna left for Carmel, California, to marry her high school sweetheart, Michael Tarnawski, between his tours of duty serving in the Navy during Vietnam. After discharge from active duty, the new couple moved back to Minnesota and enjoyed starting out their marriage together playing in a bowling league, watching hockey games and living on-board their yacht the Loveknot V. Anna had the time of her life cruising up and down the Mississippi with Michael and Snoopy, their Irish Setter.
In 1974 the couple moved to Florida to begin their family where Anna raised their four children. She was involved in all her children’s activities including horseback riding, dance lessons, softball and baseball practice and games.
She loved doing genealogy research, reading, watching movies and playing cards. She was an avid Harry Potter fan and enjoyed sharing her love of these books and the movie series with her entire family.
In May 2015, Anna and Michael celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her sister Mary Ellen Costello. Anna is survived by her loyal husband and true love Michael; four loving children, daughters Karen (husband Adam Wildfong), Michelle (husband Errol Cummings), Sara (husband Travis Martin) and devoted son Michael John; seven dear grandchildren Richard Wildfong, Robert Wildfong, Tyler Martin, Tanner Martin, Riley Wildfong, Luna Cummings and Flynn Cummings; nieces and nephews; and close friends.
There will be a graveside ceremony at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Tuesday, February 9th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers or donations, please spend time with someone you love and give them a hug.

Michelle,
I am sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you and your family.
My grandma was a very kind person. She loved us all and cared for us too. I wish that she was still here with us now. I loved to play cards and checkers with her. When I was four I found out grandma couldn’t see so I read to her every night for many years. Because of that I love to read now. I remember her as a kind, loving and thoughtful person. I miss her. Love, Luna
