Robert E. Moore

Robert.Moore .3

Moore, Robert E., 88, of Riverview went to be with the Lord, May 3, 2016. Robert, known to his family and friends as “Red”, served his country with the United States Army and his community as a Gold Badge detective in Pittsburgh, PA.

Robert is survived by his wife of 36 years, Eleanor G. Moore. He was also the loving father to his children: David R. Moore and his wife, Janice W.; Alan Moore and his wife, Cheryl; Mark Moore and his wife, Amy; Allan Michelotti and his wife, Tina; and Nicole See and her husband, John D.. Robert was an adored grandfather to his many grandchildren: Michelle Carroll, Tom Carroll, Amy Marlett, Chris Sayne, Amanda Michelotti, Steven Moore and his wife, Ashley; Rosemary Moore, AJ Michelotti, Samantha, Nicholas, Alyssa, Micah, and Gracelynn See; and his great-grandchildren: Jacob Carroll, Laken Carroll and Abigail Moore. His memory is also left with his loving sisters: Jean Self and Irene Duncan. He was preceded in death by both his mother and father.

Robert enjoyed life and loved all that he took part in, touching the lives of many in the process. After serving his country, Robert continued to serve his community by becoming a devoted member of the VFW Post and American Legion Post 148. He was voted commander of the American Legion twice during his membership and devoted much of his time to the post, while loving every moment. Robert gave much of his love to his VFW post as well and showed his fun spirited side by “becoming” Santa Clause on the holidays for the children at the post.

Robert also had a love for life and found enjoyment in nearly everything especially when it involved his grandchildren which he very much adored. He enjoyed mowing the lawn on his riding lawnmower and would even take turns giving the grandkids a chance to ride on the mower with Grandpa! He enjoyed the outdoors and had a love for nature especially when it came to flowers. Robert actually planted a pine tree that started at only 2 feet tall and with his care grew to be 40 ft tall leaving him very proud of his accomplishment. In addition to the outdoors, Robert enjoyed traveling taking an annual trip to Las Vegas for 29 years in a row!

Robert’s memory will always be cherished by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and a hero to his country and community.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Florida National Cemetery located at 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL. Military rites will be given in Robert’s honor by the United States Army and VFW Post 10209.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Robert’s name at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

All are invited to sign the guestbook below and share a memory of Robert.
