Robert George Gress, 88, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away surrounded by his loving family, on May 15, 2016.
Bob was born on June 19, 1927 in Nyack, New York, a son of the late George Gress and Mabel Gress.
Bob served in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He had a strong love of planes and was a flight engineer on B-17’s. After his service, he worked as a purchasing agent for Lederle Pharmaceutical Company. He enjoyed building and repairing. His family remembers him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Jessie Heiser, Virginia Polhemus, and Dorothy Hancock.
Surviviors include his wife of 69 years: Doris Ganden Gress of St. Petersburg, one daughter: Pat Gress and her companion, Sue Zimmer of St. Petersburg, 2 sons: William Gress of Tampa, and Thomas Gress of Seminole, 2 grandchildren: Shelley Gress and Mark Gress and his wife, Katie both of Tampa.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 2:15 P.M. at the Bay Pines National Cemetery. Military rites will be rendered.

Today is four months since you passed away.There is not a day that goes by, that I miss you more and more.The last
nine months of your life,I know you suffered so much,all the times we went to the VA Hospital,to get you treatments
and Dr.appointments. I knew you were scared,but I was always with you to make you smile.Every one there was so good
to you,I will always remember that.
The thing I miss the most about you Dad,is your big hugs,big kiss,and you told me how much you loved me! Many times
I cry about that as I try to go to sleep at night. You will be forever missed and loved in my heart.May you RIP Dad,
