Wade Augustus Daughtry, 73, of St. Petersburg, beloved husband of Elizabeth, entered into eternal peace on July 12, 2016. He was born in St. Petersburg, the son of the late Roy and Elizabeth Daughtry. He died at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the love of his wife Elizabeth for over 35 years. Gus was a loving, caring friend to all who knew him, with a heart of gold. He graduated from Tarpon Springs High School in 1961, served in the Air Force from 1961-1965 during the Vietnam War, and was employed by the United States Post Office for over 40 years. He was awarded many times for his exemplary service. Gus loved birds, his hobby, beginning with one small parrot and eventually countless more. He also loved animals and rescued many. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Daughtry; two sons, Robert (Becca) Daughtry and David (Dorene) Daughtry; a brother, Wayne Daughtry; four stepchildren, Bobbi (Raul) Alsina, Suzi (Mike) Kinter, Jim Armstrong, Don Armstrong; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. He will be terribly missed and live forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on August 18th at 5 p.m. at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 5995 Dr. MLK Jr. St. So., St. Petersburg, Fla.
