Norman V. Maxey, 79, of Davenport, FL, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the James A, Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. He was born in Davin, WV and moved to Florida over forty years ago.
Norman served his country in both the US Navy in the late 1950’s and the US Army in the late 1960’s during the Vietnam War. He made a career of being an Auto Transporter and long distance driver who made numerous trips across the country. Hus CB Handle was ‘Southern Gentleman’. He loved to travel and was fond of saying, “Get on the road and go”. He was an member of the American Legion, Moose and the First Baptist Church of Winter Haven, FL. Norman loved to camp, was a fun loving person who like to smirk and make corrections of others verbal mistakes. He loved his family and his extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and Bula Adkins; his brother, Vernon and his sisters, Zenola Jenkins and Carolyn Adkins. He is survived by his wife, Maria; sons, Stephen Maxey of North Carolina and Jeffrey Araujo of Titusville, Fl; daughters, Amy Barham of North Carolina, Christina Liggett of New Port Richey, FL, Jennifer Stewart of Davenport, FL and Michelle Vega of Swansea, MA; brothers, Eugene of WV and Clyde of OR; sisters, Delores Bean of St. Petersburg, FL and Cathy Denman of OH; 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Norman will be interred with Military Honors at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, FL, on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 1:00pm.

I am so sorry that I am not able to make the trip, to be there for Uncle Norman’s funeral. I will miss him dearly! He will always have a special place in my heart. He was so upbeat and fun loving. He always made the best of any situation and made everything seem like a breeze! Love you Always.
