Henry Burgos, Jr., 79, was born on April 20, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to Henry and Carmen (Cedeno) Burgos. He passed away on October 26, 2016 at Baldomero Lopez State Veteran’s Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
Family
Henry is survived by his wife, Karen (Widdicombe) Burgos. They moved here together from Brooklyn, New York in 1998. Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Carmen, his sister, Bonnie Burgos, and a granddaughter, Abigail Burgos. Additionally he is survived by his son Henry (Jane) Burgos, III of Palm Harbor, Florida; daughter Renate Poll of Germany; brothers Daniel Burgos of Brooklyn, NY, Robert Burgos of Hiahleah, Florida, Randolf Burgos of Coram, NY; sisters Delores Duncan of Marathon, Florida, Anita Burgos of Alabama; grandchildren Regina Poll, Emily Burgos and Tiffany Burgos.
Life and Military History
Private First Class (PFC) Henry Burgos, Jr. served his country during the Korean War era in the United States Army as a paratrooper. Henry joined the Army on September 13, 1954 in New York. At the time of his discharge Henry was eligible to wear the Good Conduct Medal and his Parachutist Badge. PFC Burgos last duty assignment before his honorable discharge was with the 503rd Infantry 1st Battalion D Company. After Korea Henry went back home and enjoyed a career working for the city of New York. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed Fishing for Bluegill and deer hunting.
Military Honors
A graveside service to honor the life of Henry Burgos, Jr. is scheduled for 2:30 PM, January 12, 2017, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and VFW 10209 from Spring Hill, Florida.

The Burgos family would like to thank the staff at Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home for the outstanding care that they provided Henry during his final illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Operation Patriot.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you Karen and the Burgos family. My husband Leroy and I met Henry at Bayonette Hospital. Leroy was his room-mate. They certainly enjoyed each others company. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
