Carole Hawver MacKay

Carole Hawver MacKay, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2016, she was 78 years of age.  She had graciously battled Multiple Myeloma for several months.

She was born, Carole Jean MacDonald in Applegate, Michigan on June 17,1938 to Kathryn Mitchell MacDonald and Roy Delbert MacDonald. She was their fourth child & only girl. Her surviving brothers include:  Gerald MacDonald, Grove, OK; and Ray MacDonald, Chesnee SC. She also had two brothers:  Donald MacDonald, who passed at 5 months of age, Bobby MacDonald, who passed at 3 months of age.  Her mother preceded her in death when Carole was a teen & her father, who also preceded her in death, later married, Jane Fraiser, who was a loving step mother and brought into the family 3 step brothers: Dale Fraiser, David Fraiser and Terry Fraiser. She has numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Port Huron High School in Michigan, and later married Jule Dean who owned a painting business. To this union was born one son, Duane Dean, who survives his mother’s passing. The family later moved to Winter Haven, Florida.
After being single for several years she went with a friend to a church service where she saw a violinist playing and she practically ‘fell in love at first sight’. The violinist was John C. Hawver and after a fun courtship they were married and remained so for 27 years. Carole helped him found & run the Masters Chamber Orchestra as well as run his annuities and insurance business.
After John’s passing she met Brad MacKay at a Hospice Grieving Support Group & they were married a year or so later.  She took good care of him in his final 2 years, just as she had done for John. Carole was indeed a caregiver at heart.

Carole was a dear sweet soul, who loved to dote on those she cared for.  She had a heart, ‘As soft as a marshmallow’ and just wanted to love & be loved.  She also loved to laugh and play with her grandchildren. She had a deep love of the Lord & strong faith.  These were important to her especially in her waning months.

She is also survived  by many step children: Suzanne Hawver Wheatley (Chuck) Norfolk, VA, Ginger Hawver, Virginia Beach, VA, Charlene Farrell (Chris), Great Falls, VA, Harry Hawver (Jackie Payne), New York, NY, Rochelle Toro (Jay), Issaquah, WA and David MacKay (Susan), Tarpon Springs, FL. Seven grandchildren: Charity Dean, Winter Haven, FL, Nicholas & Grace Wheatley, Norfolk, VA, Weslee & Greyson Toro, Richmond, VA, Bradley & Mason Carvajal, Great Falls, VA. She has numerous nieces and nephews.
