ichael Francis Cardaman was born on June 27, 1932 in Garfield Heights, Ohio to Michael and Gertrude (Seymore) Cardaman. He passed away on December 31, 2016 in Vero Beach, Florida at VNA Hospice House.
Life and family
He is survived by his loving wife Joanne Cardaman. Along with Joanne he is survived by 7 children; Richard Cardaman, Mary (Cardaman) Marsh, Debbie (Cardaman) Schlitt, Michael Francis Cardaman III, William Cardaman, Donna (Cardaman) Barker, and Denise Cardaman. After retirement, Michael and Joanne moved to Vero Beach Florida where he continued his Amateur Radio services with the U.S. Navy M.A.R.S. program. He passed at the Hospice House in Vero Beach after complications from medical issues. His sisters, Donna Rudden and Joan Colbary precede him in death. He is survived by his Wife, his brother Eugene Cardaman, his 7 children and grandchildren: Jessica (nee Cardaman) Babaki, Ashley Cardaman, William Marsh, Michael Marsh, Rachael Marsh, Sarah Schlitt, Lauren Schlitt, Malorie Cardaman, Michael Francis Cardaman IV, Alex Milner, Abbey Barker, Kate Barker, Hannah Barker, Matt Barker, Jack Barker, Emily Barker, Meghan Cartellone, Bennett Cartellone, and Joey Cartellone, and many nieces, nephews & great nieces and nephews and one great grandchild on the way-Jessica Babaki. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chagrin Falls Area.
Military
Michael enlisted in the Navy on November 16, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan. Petty Officer Cardaman’s last duty assignment was aboard the USS Epping Forest conducting minesweeping operations off of the coast off Korea. At the time of his honorable discharge he was entitled to wear the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with three service stars, and the Good Conduct Medal on his uniform.
Private Ceremony
A private ceremony to honor the life of Michael Cardaman with military honors provided by the United States will take place in his hometown of Garfield Heights, Ohio.
