Stanley Clayton Strauss was born in Brooklyn New York on May 28,1918 to Rachael and David Strauss. He passed away on April 27th 2017. Dad had three siblings, Harold George and Janette. Our aunt and uncles spoiled us as much as humanly possible. Life was good in a very small yet close knit family.
Stan always loved dogs and was attending Veterinary College when the big war broke out. Like thousands of other patriotic young people he chose to enlist and serve. In 1943 he met the love of his life Margaret “Tommie” Thomas. While enlisted Stanley made Captain and Tommie made 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. They married, had two sons ( Lenny and Irv ) and were together for 65 years.
After the war Dad became a manager at the Proctor and Gamble plant in Baltimore Md. Mom continued her chosen path as a shock trauma nurse. They both worked for over thirty years before retiring to Highland Lakes Florida in 1975. Mom left us almost nine years ago and is also at the Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell. They are survived by their sons and families with four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Outside of work and family Mom and Dad shared a passion for flying. They flew their Piper Cherokee180 on trips all over the country including one trip to Alaska and a trip to the Bahamas. That being said I would like to believe they have greater wings now and are together again on their next journey. Vaya con Dios and Shalom
