Barbara (Billie Ruth) Guild passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Largo Medical Center, while under the loving care and comfort of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was born on January 10, 1929 in Savannah, Georgia. She was the youngest of six siblings. She grew up in Savannah and there she met and married the love of her life, Bert, at the age of 19. They went on to have six children, three girls and three boys.
After raising her children, she went on to a 20 year career working in local elementary schools. Over the years she became the matriarch for a family that included her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bertram C. Guild Jr, as well as son-in-law Ray and daughter-in-law Annette.
She is survived by daughters Theresa Guild, Barbara Handville, Laura Johnston (Dennis), sons Bert III (Debbie), Mike (Lisa), Paul (Liz), 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to share a memory and sign her guestbook below.
To the family and friends,
It was my honor to be with the family at the hospital shortly after Barbara died, and will be my honor to lead the funeral service Wed evening at Aldersgate UMC, and the interment service Thur afternoon at Sarasota National Cemetery.
I celebrate that Barbara and and her husband Bert are re-united, in that place prepared just for them by their Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Respectfully, Pastor Gary
Bert,
So sorry for your loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during your sorrow! May she Rest In Peace and forever watch over you! Love and prayers,
Karyn and family.
God Bless you guys. I pray for everyone’s comfort during this difficult time. Aunt Billie was always so kind and gentle. She was the perfect match for Uncle Bud. I know she suffered a lot with the diabetes, but she suffers no more. Please accept our condolences. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
