Gary Zazitski was born on July 7, 1950 to Stanley and Hazel (Davis) Zazitski in Meadville, Pennsylvania. He passed away on July 6, 2017 at Bay Pines VA Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Family
He is survived by his son Daniel Zazitski of Bradenton Beach, Florida; daughter Andrea Depree of Grand Rapids, Michigan; former spouse Claire Zazitski to whom he was married to for 18 years; and 3 grandchildren.
Military
Gary joined the Army on September 11, 1967 in Jacksonville, Florida and was honorably discharged on September 10, 1970 from Fort Bragg, North Carolina at the rank of Specialist 4th class. Gary was a 100% service connected veteran from Vietnam. At the time of his discharge he was eligible to wear the Army Meritorious Unit Award, six Army Commendation Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal on his uniform. His last duty station was with the 503rd Military Police Battalion.
Services
A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 2:15 pm at Bay Pines National Cemetery with the United States Army providing military honors. Guests planning on attending the ceremony should arrive to the cemetery at 2:00 pm.
Special Acknowledgements
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Fisher House at Bay Pines VA Medical Center who provides temporary lodging for visiting veterans and families of veterans.
