Suddenly on Saturday, July 8, 2017 our dearly beloved Karen Marie (Saxty) Fortunato passed away at Largo Medical Center, Largo FL.
Karen is survived by her Stepmom: Doris Jeanne Saxty; Sisters: Joanne (Saxty) Nolte, Dawn (Saxty) Maroti, Brenda (Allen) Ford, Cheryl (Allen) Bolton, Lori Saxty; Brothers: Michael Saxty, Craig Allen, Barry Allen and Christopher Saxty. She is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was born February 27, 1949 in Washington, D. C. She grew up in Maryland and graduated from Oxon Hill Senior High School in 1967. She worked for several years in Maryland as an Oral Surgeon’s Assistant. After her marriage to Michael Fortunato, she moved to Massachusetts where she and her husband owned a restaurant.
After the very sad loss of a stillborn baby boy in 1986, her marriage ended in the late 1980’s and she moved to Florida to be near her parents and siblings, most of whom had moved down from Maryland and Virginia.
She was a member of the Abundant Life Ministries Church in Largo, FL. She loved her church and her many friends. She was a Born Again Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. Evangelizing came so natural to her and she was filled with joy when she shared her love of Jesus Christ with others.
She will be so terribly missed by all.
Friends and family are invited to share a memory and sign her guestbook below.

prayers to Karen’s family. Rest in peace sweet Karen .
In the short time I knew Karen, she made a lasting impression on my life. Prayers for peace for the family and friends that she left behind
To my beloved sister Karen:
I wish that I could have said or done something to help you through those dark hours. But I was blind. I did not see. And now you’re gone forever…. Why did you choose to leave? It left a wave of grief, relentless, merciless, and endless. All of us have been hit hard, and in its might, we are devastated, hurt, and shattered.
With hope, I want you to know that you were always my beloved sister and friend, and I will remember and cherish our loving times together. I still have all of the beautiful letters and cards you wrote to me. Your kind words and loving ways always touched my heart.
If I could change what fate arranged, I would do it in a heartbeat. Without you, my heart aches so badly. Know that I will keep the memories of you close to me, no matter where I go or where I’ll be…forever.
With love,
Craig and Sandi
Rest in peace sweet Karen.
I just found out that Karen died. I send my warmest regards to each of her family members. We were very close, attended the same church for years and always kept in touch. I wasn’t able to contact her after she was to make another move last year (probably sometime last Spring when I spoke to her last). I tried her phone many times, and it wasn’t going through. I don’t live anywhere close by. I’m stunned. Again, my deepest condolences.
