David Michael Hanley, 85, of Nokomis, FL, passed away on July 5, 2017, at Manor Care in Venice, FL. He was born in Miami Beach, FL. He moved back to Florida with his wife Barbara in 1995.
He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He entered the service on March 9, 1951 and completed his tour of duty on January 17, 1955. He was a Staff Sergeant his specialty was photography. He spent nearly seventeen months of his time in the service overseas. He received the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
David was a pilot and he was passionate about flying and airplanes. He was a pilot for many years and owned several airplanes over the years. He loved to travel by plane or cruise.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara. He has five children, five grandchildren and many friends.
On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at 9:30AM, a service with Military Honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. At 11:30Am, on the same day, a Memorial Service will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 425 South Tamiami Trail, Osprey, FL 34229.
