Janet Ruth Hicks, 87, of Sarasota, FL, passed away at her home on August 24, 2017. She was born in Somerville, NJ.
She was a faithful Christian, who loved God and had a big heart. Janet loved helping others and cooking dinners for her church and the nursing home. She was a member of Heritage Bible Church in Largo, FL.
Adventure and the outdoors was something that she loved. She enjoyed sailing in her sailboat, scuba diving and, as a pilot, loved doing air acrobatics. Pecan pies were one of the desserts she thoroughly enjoyed.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Hancock and her son, Danny. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Hicks, Sr.; son, Lloyd Hicks, Jr.; daughters, Mary Lynn Nichols and Shirley Jones; and she was a Grandmother of six and a Great-Grandmother of eight.
A graveside service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Thursday, August 31 at 10:00AM. Pastor Rod White will be conducting the service.
She was a wonderful woman, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She was amazing and will always be loved and missed.
