Richard Charles Kuhlenbeck passed away at Bay Pines VA, Florida, on September 1, 2017, two days before his 80th birthday after a brief illness. Born on September 3, 1937 in Richmond, Indiana, to Paul and Henrietta (Vinton) Kuhlenbeck. Richard devoted to his loving wife Connie (Raper) married on February 4, 1966.
After graduating from Richmond Senior High School in 1957, he enlisted in the army. He was honorably discharged with an E4 specialist and received the Gold Conduct Medal for motor vehicle and mechanic badge driver in 1959. Richard was a retired lieutenant-firefighter from the Richmond Fire Department. After 23 years of service, he and his wife moved to Florida. He was a member of The American Legion Post 273, Madeira Beach, Florida. Richard enjoyed fishing, drawing and painting, watching military and western movies, spending time and playing games with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
Surviving loved ones include his wife of 51 years, son, Eric (Teri) Kuhlenbeck of Bluffton, Indiana, and their sons, Travis, Damon (Brittney), Mitchell and Brett Kuhlenbeck and daughter, Tonya (Tom) Mycka of Seminole, Florida, and their daughters, Ashley and Stella Mycka. Two sisters include Betty Frame of Richmond, Indiana, and Della Siebert of Jay, Florida, and one brother, Roland (Joan) Kuhlenbeck of Liberty, Indiana.
His parents preceded him in death along with one sister, Marjorie Kuhlenbeck and brother, William Kuhlenbeck.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House at Bay Pines.
Memorial service will be held October 23, 2017 at 2:15pm at Bay Pines National Cemetery. Military rites will be rendered.

I worked with you at CSD and was just thinking about you over the weekend. I wondered where you had moved to. I am distantly related to the Kuhlenbeck’s and we were going over the family tree. I am so sorry to hear of Dick’s passing. Please share my condolences with Eric, Tonya and all your family.
