Frank Jacob Klug

rank “Buddy” Jacob Klug was born on April 11, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to Jacob and Dorothy (Boone) Klug. He passed away on November 4, 2017 at Sun City Hospice Center in Sun City Center, Florida.

Life and Family

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Dorothy; four brothers James, Robert, William and John Klug and daughter Barbara Ann (Carobine) Klug. Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years, Constance “Connie” (Swinski) Klug. Frank and Connie moved to Florida in December of 2013 from Rhode Island. Additionally Frank is survived by sons Francis Anthony Klug of Sun City Center, Florida and David Jacob (Patricia) Klug from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; daughter Jean Marie (Patrick) Sill of Sun City Center, Florida; grandchildren Matthew, Josiah, Jake, Lucy and great-grandchildren Noah, Gianna and Micah. Frank was an avid sportsfan. He loved watching Steeler and Giant Football, Tampa Bay Lightning Hockey and New York Yankee Baseball.

Military

Frank joined the United States Coast Guard on January 28, 1952 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennslvania. He proudly served on the USCGC Eagle which is the Coast Guard vessel known for training cadets and Coast Guard Officers. He served for three years and was honorably discharged as a Damage Controlman Petty Officer Second Class. At the time of his discharged he would have been eligible to wear the National Defense Service Medal on his uniform.

Services

A graveside service with military honors provided by the United States Coast Guard is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery. Military honors will also be presented by American Legion 159 from Venice, Florida.

The Klug family has asked that any memorial contributions be made to Operation Toy Soldier. Checks can be made payable to Operation Toy Soldier PO Box 4122, Bay Pines, FL 33744. The family would also like to thank the entire staff at Sun City Center Hospice for the outstanding care provided to Frank during his stay there.
