ary Celeste Rooks was born on December 1, 1922 to William and Rose (Fuchs) Schenkel in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She passed away on November 20, 2017 at Sabal Palms surrounded by a loving family.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Patrick and son Larry. She is survived by her sons Rick (Patricia) Rooks, Ron (Cathy) Rooks, Dan Rooks; eleven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchildren.

Aunt Mary was my favorite aunt, I always enjoyed going to their house. She loved all kinds of animals. She was always kind to me when I visited. Larry and I were close in age and did hang out together at her house here in Fort Wayne.
Aunt Mary was my godmother and Uncle Pat was my godfather. May they rest in peace.
Mary was the youngest of the 6 Schenkel children of William & Rose who grew up on 1811 Franklin Street, Fort Wayne. She lived longer than all her siblings, Bill, Norbert, Clete, Herman Joseph & my mother Rose. Her genealogy is blessed, strong & interesting. Family was most important to her.
