Louis “Lou” Raymond Weaver went Home to his Heavenly Father on May 17, 2017. He lived by the “Golden Rule” and taught all his children to treat others as they wished to be treated, and preached the importance of LOVE not HATE in a world with so much conflict. Lou was born on June 11, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA to Ralph and Elizabeth (Blausch) Weaver. Lou grew up in the North Side of Pittsburgh and graduated from Oliver High School, as Senior Class President, in 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a military tank operator from 1953-1955, earning an Honorable Discharge, remaining very proud of his country, and calling himself an American.
Following his military service, Lou had many interests. He was always a ‘people person.’ One of his favorite jobs was as an Arthur Murray Dance Instructor. He danced professionally in California, sharing the stage with stars like Jack Benny and Bob Hope. After he married his first wife, Joanne (Kirchner), Lou attended Tufts Business School and began making a living in sales. He sold Fuller Brushes door-to-door and provided for his first family in their Pittsburgh (Moon Township) home. He then opened his own Bellevue Kitchens and Bath Center and remained a contractor in remodeling and roofing, moving to Lancaster, PA to open Lou Weaver and Son, Roofing and Remodeling in the 1980’s until he retired in 1998.
For play time, Lou loved to play racquetball. He was also an avid jogger during the 1960s and 1970s when running was not yet in style. It was at the Lancaster County Racquetball and Health Club (Lancaster, PA) in 1988 that he met his love and life partner, Anna Hahn. They worked hard during the day, played racquetball after work, then danced the nights away almost every day of the week. When Anna became a single foster parent in 1994, Lou acted as “Uncle Lou” and positive male mentor to 21 foster children until the year 2000 when he married Anna (and her two adopted children). Days after the wedding, he adopted Kimmi and Andrew as his own, giving them the Weaver name. After retiring to Florida in 2003, the Weaver family fostered many more children together. None of the children could ever walk into a room without Lou bursting out in that big smile to let them know how much he loved them and how precious they were. Plans to adopt a third child were in process at the time of his death. That beautiful teen was adopted on October 30, 2017 with a picture of her Dad facing the judge.
Lou never woke up a day in his adult life without a smile on his face, a positive attitude, and the feeling of gratitude to God for a new and glorious day. Lou was a loving and wonderful husband and father, and was very active in the lives of his family and friends. He always gave to others with a quiet strength, supporting their accomplishments with great happiness. He was a teacher of love, self-respect, respect for others, selflessness, and had confidence in his family and friends to “shoot for the stars” in anything they attempted or dreamed of. Their accomplishments were his celebrations.
Lou is survived by his wife, Dr. Anna Weaver, their children: Kimmi-Ellen, Andrew, and Molly; Lou’s children from his first marriage, Louis and Edward; and several other foster children he has shared his heart and home with over the years who still call him “Dad,” including “Destina” and “Colton” (Tampa, FL), Danielle (Lauren) Hammond (Elizabethtown, PA) and Kristy Haefner, (Lancaster, PA). Also surviving are 3 Brothers-in-Law, Robert Hahn, Jr., and James and Stephen Hahn-Coady, many nieces and nephews in the Weaver, Kirchner, and Connor Families, very close friends, as well as 8 grandchildren; Michael Weaver (Son of Lou and Melissa Weaver), Cloey, Dontrell, Trinity & Cooper Hamond (Children of Danielle Hammond), Dante Maldonado, Issael Ortiz, Yosel Ortiz (sons of Kristy Haefner), living in PA. Lou was predeceased by his parents, siblings: Ralph, Bob, and Betty Jane Connor, first wife, Joanne, and Anna’s parents, Robert and Mary Ellen Hahn.
The family had a Happy Birthday/Wonderful Life Party weeks after his death on his birthday, June 11th, while singing around the piano to celebrate his vibrant spirit, love of life, and provider of joy to all he came in contact with. He will forever live in our hearts.
Anna, that is the most beautiful obituary I’ve ever read. That was a great biography of a truly loving man. You were lucky to have met and loved and be loved by such a wonderful man. My deepest condolences to you and your entire family. He will remain in your hearts forever.❤❤
