Richard W. Litzenberger, 90, of Clearwater, FL, passed away on January 8, 2017, at the Bay Pines VA Hospital in Bay Pines, FL. He was born in Newark, NJ and served his country in the United States Navy.
Richard was a loving husband and father and also a good provider to his family. He loved being surrounded by his family and would encourage them to get together whenever possible. He had a passion for all things family. Richard loved going to his annual family reunion in New Jersey. This year would have been the 50th reunion.
Richard was a craftsman and inventor by necessity. When he was able, he loved building model ships. He was always a Navy man at heart. Most recently Richard had taken up making ceramics. He used to really enjoy the time he spent at the SlipAway ceramics shop. Building wind chimes was also one of Richards favorite hobbies.
He always helped and gave to others when the need arose. Richard will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Delia Litzenberger; parents, Michael and Vera Litzenberger; his brothers, Michael Lee, Daniel Gervasio and William Gervasio; sisters, Gloria Puzzella and Joan Laveglia. He is survived by his sons, Richard Anthony (Lori), Leslie Richard (Teresa), Kenneth Richard (Susan) and Robert Richard; several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
A Military Honors service will be held at 2:15pm on March 7, 2018, at Bay Pines National Cemetery located at 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, St. Petersburg, FL 33708. Richard will interred with his wife, Delia.
