Richard W. Nelson of Crystal River, FL passed away at the age of 83 on June 1, 2018, from complications of cancer. Rick was born in Detroit, MI.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, a Korean Service Medal, a United Nations Service Medal and a Good Conduct Service Medal. Following his time in the service, he had a Tool & Die business and resided in Mt. Clemens, MI until 1992.
Richard’s hobbies included Trap Shooting where he has a national ranking. He was an avid boater, fisherman, RC Airplane builder and pilot. If you needed a firearm fixed or altered, he was your man. He was a very gifted man who very generously shared his talents with family and friends.
Rick’s family and friends were all victims of his unique sense of humor…and Rick will be greatly missed.
He was preceded by his parents Warren and Jennie Nelson. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Veva Nelson; sons, Daniel and Dale Nelson; daughter, April Nelson Coleman; five grandchildren; and his sister Madeline James.
Services with Military Honors will be conducted at 11:30AM on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Florida National Cemetery located at 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
