James Wesley Drewry, 78, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away Friday July 13, 2018 at the Baldomero Lopez State War Veterans Home in Land O’ Lakes, Florida. He was born near Rayville, Louisiana. Prior to moving to Spring Hill he lived in Alto, Louisiana.
He served his country in The United States Army for over 14 years with 3 tours in Vietnam, several tours in Germany, and multiple years back at home. He later served in Louisiana National Guard with 528th Engineer Company in Monroe, La. for an additional 3 years. After he left active service, he attended vocational training for welding. Later, he went on to work for Mid-South Laundry in Monroe, La. as the production manager until retiring in 1999.
He was a very skilled automotive mechanic, body-man, and paint refinisher. Self-taught over the years, he enjoyed working along side his children and teaching them these skills.
He is survived by his wife, Heidrun Drewry; daughters, Dian Rygh, Christine Faley, and Crystal Drewry; sons, Michael Drewry, Norman Drewry, and Matthias Drewry; nephews, Roy Lowery, Jerry Lowery, Terry Lowery, and Randall Lowery; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; along with many, many friends.
Services with military honors will be held at 1:30PM on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida 33513.
