Edward Neal Williamson

Edward Neal Williamson, 67, of Largo, Florida, passed away on July 17, 2018, at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.  He was born in Lansing, Michigan.

Ed served his country as a Medic in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Master Sergeant after serving for over 21 years. From August 2, 1990 through February 23, 1991, he served in support of Operation Desert Shield / Storm. He received the following awards during his multiple tours: Meritorious Service Award; Air Force Commendation Medal w/ I device; Air Force Achievement Medal; Air Force Outstanding Unit Medal; Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/ 7 devices; National Defense Service Medal w/ 1 Bronze Star; Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon w/ 1 device; and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon.

He made it widely known that he loved his country. He loved sailing (he called himself the “Cowboy Sailor”), the ocean and traveling the United States. Ed loved and greatly appreciated his guns and liked going to gun shows. Ed’s motorcycle was where he felt the most free and loved the trips made on it.

Ed was very fond of horses and even owned a couple. He eventually got an education in horse shoeing and did that for awhile. He said it was the hardest work he ever did and even got kicked a couple of times.

Believe it or not, Ed was a very modest man about his many accomplishments. He loved everyone who surrounded him and he was a very gentle, giving man.

A service with Military Honors has been scheduled for 10:30AM on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Bay Pines National Cemetery.  The Cemetery is located at 10000 Bay Pines Boulevard, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33708.
