June Ellen Grubbs was born on December 29 1941, and passed away September 10, 2018 at Brookside Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida after a long illness. She was born in Lynn Massachusetts and graduated from Our Lady of the Nazareth high school in 1959.
After raising three daughters, she went to nursing school and, after graduation; she went to work at Liberty Pavilion nursing home in Danvers, Massachusetts. June moved to Palm Harbor in 1993 with her husband Hugh (Dutch) after he retired from the US Navy. She was a Life member of VFW post 2550 in Dunedin, FL. where she served two years as Senior Vice-President of the Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary (O’Malley) Rose. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Hugh (Dutch) Grubbs; daughters, Laura Jean of Tavares, Florida, Mary Jean-Wright of Mt. Dora, Florida, (Robert), Diana McCartney of Phoenix, Arizona. (Dennis); stepsons Hugh Grubbs of Graham, Texas (Diana) and Justin Grubbs of New Orleans, Louisiana (Carrie); brother, Walter Rose of Saugus Massachusetts (Donna); grandsons, Donald McCartney of Phoenix, Arizona (Shauna) Robert McCartney of Traverse City, Michigan. (Whitney); granddaughter Catherine Wright of Mt. Dora, Florida and great-grandson Findley of Traverse City, Michigan.
June will be interned at Bay Pines National Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
My life was blessed by having June be a part of it. I am thankful for the hugs, laughs, and some scoldings that I received during my visits with her. Hugh, I send you my love and prayers and Diana, may you always know how much I love you!
