Frances Buttler Parsons, 93, of St. Petersburg, Florida, died September 27, 2018.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on July 30, 1925 to Frank and Ruth Buttler, Frances “Fran” was raised in Alexandria, Virginia.
She graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1946, married Charles H. Parsons, II (“Charlie”) that same year, and began a life as an Air Force wife. Fran was a champion amateur golfer, playing out of Sunset Golf course (now the Vinoy Club). She was also docent emeritus at the Museum of Fine Arts. Fran remained a very active member of The Cathedral Church of St. Peters for over 43 years, serving on and leading the church’s Alter Guild for many years.
Fran is proceeded in death by her parents, husband Charlie, and son Bruce. She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Judy Fielder of Atlanta, sons Chuck (Kim) Parsons of Seminole and Bill (Mayte) Parsons of Palm Coast, along with seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at The Cathedral Church of St. Peter, 140 4th Street North, St Petersburg, Florida 33701.
The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Fran’s memory to The Cathedral Church of St Peter or the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts.
